This place has the best food - reasonably priced. Came here once on the way to Texas. Came back on a trip to MN and had to stop here. The original tacos are the best - beef and chicken are great.

Tasty Tacos is a Des Moines institution. The addition of this Tastys to the Jordan Creek area is a great option to the lunch scene for this part of town. I've been a long-time steak taco fan, but my heart and taste buds have just been stolen by the newly reintroduced pork tacos. Regardless of the taco path you take, be sure to add a healthy dose of Tasty's sauce.

PUFFY tacos. Naysayers will say this is bland, nowhere near real mexican food and they would be right...you need to go to Mexico to have REAL mexican food! You come here for the deep fried goodness of the puffy taco...add your own mango salsa or gauc and it is almost perfection!

Love love love tasty tacos!!!! Have to go at least once a week. I think this is the best location, staff recognizes me and my boyfriend and are very friendly. I've been to every location though. They don't mind that I order extra cheese and request my tacos extra crispy. Most importantly order a flour taco and use there house made hot sauce, I could bathe in that sauce. If they had a drive through and were open on sundays they'd be too perfect. Probs not authentic in the least bit but they're the best tacos I've ever had.

Absolutely, without a doubt, the worst tacos I've ever tasted. Totally bland, Americanized misrepresentations of "tacos." I can't believe this restaurant even gets any business! This was the only taco I've ever actually had to spit out mid-chew, it was that bad.

Honestly this place is nothing special. It is a step up IMO from Taco Bell but I'm sure the TB fans disagree with me...lol. The place is reminds me of a good Mexican food truck. The inside is basic and no frills with an simple menu and simple set up. I ordered two corn tacos one steak and one chicken. They were ready for me in less than 5 min (during the height of the lunch rush). My little red basket and I headed to the table. The steak was shredded in a hard corn shell. Not bad needed a little more flavor IMO, the chicken on the other hand was weak and bland. The other strange thing I noticed was that the place was 80% men...what women don't eat tacos..lol.

Great location and great addition for the Jordan Creek shopping district. Don't stray from their famous flour taco. We had some fries with our tacos on a recent visit. I'm not sure if they ran out and someone made a Hy-Vee run and threw a few bags of crinkle cuts in the fryer, but that's exactly what it tasted like. Vegetable oil was the primary flavor. Save the calories and money and eat more tacos.

Clean and quick; good lunch spot. The flour tacos lived up to the name - very tasty with salsa. Would go back.

I have traveled all over Des Moines just to go to Tasty Tacos! Now that they have opened the West Des Moines location I fear that my scale may break. When I see a bad review I wonder what the person ordered. I will claim that you won't be disappointed with the Steak Flour Taco. It is seasoned well and you get a pile of toppings. I had "The Original" taco before and didn't care for it as it had beans in it and was bland. I always get Tasty Taco to go. Here is a helpful hint if you are taking out. Call the order in. It is always ready in 10 minutes. They have a separate line for call in orders. It's great when you walk right past all of the people in line and leave with your grub in front of everyone waiting on the benches. That's a win!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
